MICHAEL CASSIDY

In 1977, Michael Cassidy was hired by the Rutherford Board of Education to teach Social Studies at Union School. From there, Mr. Cassidy moved up to the High School where he coached several sports and was eventually made Assistant Principal until his retirement in 2010. Over the course of 30 years, Mr. Cassidy forged a strong bond with his students and the community that it was only natural that the Shamrock n’ Run 5k be held yearly in the town of Rutherford.

The Borough of Rutherford is a warm and welcoming community that has shown tremendous support for the Shamrock n’ Run organization by allowing us to hold this event year after year. This race is held annually every March, sometimes with harsh weather conditions, and without the support of the town, the Rutherford Police, and the Rutherford High School community, this event would not be possible. The Shamrock n’ Run is forever grateful to the town of Rutherford and all our volunteers for putting in the time and effort it takes to run a 5k. With your continued support we hope to be able to provide a healthy and fun tribute to the life of Michael Cassidy for years to come.
